How duels work
Challenge another city to a duel. They can see your beast but not your bet, and they choose whether to accept. If they do, they pick a beast and a bet of their own, both bets are shown, and the beasts fight. The winner's city takes both bets and the winning beast gains a little experience. Level does not matter in the fight: a beast fights harder the more is bet on it, and much harder when the bet is the material it likes.
How beasts work
Every egg has missions of its own, shown with the egg: one for common and uncommon eggs, up to three (one after another) for legendary ones. It hatches once it has been kept warm long enough, longer for rarer eggs, and its missions are done.
Egg missions never run out, and you can do as many as you have eggs: they are separate from beast missions. There is no limit on how many eggs you can have.
Your active beast sets the city one beast mission at a time, and a new one comes each day. Every completed beast mission gives the beast experience; as it levels up, the bonus it gives the city grows.
Rarer beasts grow to higher levels (common to 10, legendary to 20) and set harder missions that give more experience. What the bonus is depends on the kind of beast.
Only the active beast sets missions and gives its bonus, and you can change which hatched beast is active at any time. Expeditions sometimes bring back more eggs, and rarer kinds are likelier the further from home they go.
The Beast Den, Incubator, Training Ground and Beast Sanctuary (each needs research) make all of this faster or stronger. In the Arena you challenge another city to a duel.
Each side bets goods on a beast without seeing the other's bet; if the challenge is accepted the beasts fight, the winner's city takes both bets and the winning beast gains a little experience. Each kind of beast likes one material, and betting that on it raises its stats the most.
Every beast also has Health, Attack, Defense and Speed. They differ a little from one beast to the next of the same kind, and they do not change anything in the city.
Each is graded against the lowest and highest its kind can have: F is the lowest, then E, D, C, B and A, and S is the best possible; the overall grade averages all four. Every beast is male or female: on the Breeding part of this tab, a male and a female of the same kind lay an egg every 12 hours, its stats a mix of their own.
Any beast or egg except your active beast can be offered to other cities with its Trade button, for a material or for a beast of a kind and level you name.

Send an expedition
An expedition team maps one new area next to land you already know. The supplies it needs depend on the kind of land it is heading into and how far that is from home. People, materials and research are shared by all your areas.
Research
Research is paid for with Knowledge, which comes from Shaman Huts, Schools and Universities. Each tech level's research needs its research building standing in your city.

How trading works
Every trade is between two cities. What you offer leaves your stock and is held until it is sold or you cancel. The two amounts set the price, and other cities can buy any part of the offer at that price. To buy from an offer, type how much of it you want and the cost is shown before you press Buy; Max buys all you can afford.
Finished orders
Reposting orders
Offers of yours that sold out. Nothing here is on sale. Change the amounts by typing new ones or with the × and ÷ buttons, which change both sides and keep the price. Reactivate posts the order again with the amounts shown, taking the goods from your stock again.
Bills
How bills work
A bill is a repeating trade with one other city. It starts once they accept, and either of you can cancel it at any time. If either city can't pay when it comes due, nothing changes hands that time; three misses in a row cancel the bill. Active bills are counted in the per-hour figures at the top.
Beasts and eggs for trade
To put one of yours up, press Trade on it on the Beast tab (Your beasts, or Eggs).
Artifacts for trade
Any city can buy any ideology's artifacts here. To sell one of yours, press Sell on it in Artifacts on the Ideology tab.

Guide
Reading the map
Each tile shows its terrain symbol. If something is on it, the second character is the building (white when working, red when something is wrong, grey when switched off) or the wild animal (pink). The bar under a building shows how far through its cycle it is, and each small square in the corner is an addition. Click any tile for its details.
